- This "Finalist" status does not guarantee that Coverfly's participating industry partners will invite me to pitch, but it does mean that I and/or my projects have matched a specific set of criteria laid out by the industry at this time. This is cause for celebration in and of itself. I am flattered and excited.
- Those industry partners will review my Coverfly profile and my projects and will decide if they want to invite me to pitch. Coverfly will contact me in early February about their decision.
- There is an optional exclusive even on Wednesday, February 2nd at 10am PST (1pm EST my time) (Event Link). During this optional event, Coverfly will offer insights on how to best prepare for Pitch Week Meetings, and how I can make the most of the opportunity if selected. Shortly after that Coverfly will notify the writers selected for pitches.

9 Apr 2019: I was not at all surprised when TJA didn't make the semi-finalist cut, because that particular version, despite being a major rewrite, simply did not merit such advancement. I was pleased it achieved the honor of a quarter-finalist position (meaning, the top 10% of the 2755 screenplays submitted in 2019).

5 Dec 2017: Reader Feedback: Myja's journey and carefree attitude towards life are the strongest element in the script and serve as the foundation of the story. James's character needs to be developed into a real villain. Perhaps we see his sinister side in the courtroom before he meets Myja. As written, James is not evil enough. Other than he doesn't want to acknowledge his illegitimate son and just wants to pay him off to go away, we don't get a real sense of a true villain. The hitchhiker is interesting, but a lot is being said in dialogue instead shown through action in his interaction with Myja.

Activity Bus #61, didn't place in Reel Writers Screenplay Contest on 16 Aug 2014
13 May 2014: Made it through Round One! I received a 100/100 for technical aspects such as formatting and spacing and title page layout. Onto Round Two!
23 May 2014: Made it through Round Two (which, Reel Writers reports, is the toughest round to conquer!). Reader 1314 gave me an 85/100, which is solidly in the middle of the range of 70/100 that they let advance to Round Three.
16 Aug 2014: didn't make the cut for the Round Three Semi-Finals; I was sure it wouldn't, considering the thorough and valid feedback I had received, pointing out its many flaws.

I didn't expect DW to place. The more and more I reviewed the screenplay (unfortunately, after I had submitted it), I saw how flawed it was. With regard to characterization and themes, I feel it's fine, but there are too many plotholes and inconsistencies and too many problems with the timeline (which, frankly, doesn't make sense and is obviously forced) to have allowed it to be worthy to be judged as a finalist in the contest. I do believe, though, that DW has definite legs and has a definite future (as I was telling Frances, I do indeed see this screenplay produced someday and these characters and this storyline on the big screen). This has been a good lesson is not rushing a project
